Attention: Toxins!
Toxins are everywhere, and they're in everything you do. Are the things that are still on your radar today? These could be causing infertility! Let's break it down to areas like:
Kitchen 🍳-- Have a look at what type of plastic or wooden spatula is being used for cooking? How about ceramic, wood or bpa-free tools instead. Also, pots and pans: go for ones that do not have non-stick chemical coatings and choose cast iron or stainless steel.
Beauty 💄-- it’s hard to stay “beautiful” in the age of toxins. Choose organic products and try to go fragrance-free as best you can. Many phthalates are used to help penetrate our skin so that the fragrance can smelled longer. But these phthalates are endocrine disruptors and mess with our hormones while causing medical problems and disrupt fetal development. Check out the HBO documentary "Not So Pretty" and get exposed of the ‘dark side’ of beauty products.
The @environmentalworkinggroup Environmental Working Group 💚has great resources. Check out their personal care section! There are plenty of clean beauty options out there like #cleanbeauty make-up brands such as @iliabeauty and @kosas consider a switch to these instead or other.
Eating Out 🍔– I’m a wanna-be foodie, but it's no secret that most restaurants use plastic containers for food preparation, but did you know these items can harm our fertility? Folks who eat-out more often have more micro-plastics in their body and are at risk for worse sperm, more anovulation, and other endocrine disrupting issues. Still enjoy life, have fun with friends and family, but eat at home and meal prep for our “boring” meals (work lunches, mid-week dinners).
That's it for today! Let me know if I missed anything in the comment section. What has helped you decrease plastic and toxin exposure in your environment?
